Abstract: In the state of Oaxaca there are two regimes of election of municipal authorities: political parties and domestic legal systems (dls). In this paper we analyze the origin, development, forms and consequences of electoral disputes in three municipalities in the Southern Sierra of Oaxaca governed by dls. Simultaneously, we identify the collective actors involved and their strategies renegotiation of the agreements and the traditional rules, which gradually become different electoral practices and new internal balance, to configure a hybrid and heterogeneous political settlement. However, it is also possible persistence of disagreement and, therefore, the conflict between actors. In any case, determining the interaction of interests of domestic groups but no less effective external intervention of institutional actors, whose activity also helps to shape the new political arrangements for the system of dls in each municipality
