2010 is a commemorative year; 200 years of independence and 100 since a revolution started with a democratic claim. However, today after ten years of political change and high electoral competence Mexican society id disappointed and distrusts its representatives, shile the intelllectuals claim disappointment sith society and its political practices. The result has been a weakened democracy, corruption and violation of the law. This article aims to answer how this intellectual disappointment emerged within the process of change that moved form authoritarianism to democracy, through an analysis of intellectual reflections on democracy and society published in the magazines Plural and vuelta - both directed by Ocravio Paz - and Letras libres.
